Fat Dissolving Injections (Lipolysis)
Fat Dissolving Injections
Lipolysis
Some fat deposits can be tough to get rid of. They commonly occur on parts of the body that are difficult to treat with exercise, leaving you with a double chin, flabby thighs or hips.
But now there’s a solution for these problem zones: the lipolysis injection. Lipolysis is a controlled method for dissolving small, stubborn fat deposits.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Which Areas Can Be Treated With Lipolysis?
Lipolysis injections are composed of Phosphatidylcholine (PC), which is found in human cell membranes, and Deoxycholic acid (DC), which is found in human bodies as bile acids to help dissolve the fats that we ingest. It is injected into fat pockets, where it dissolves fat cells that are then eliminated from the body through the lymph system. The medication does not enter the bloodstream and so cannot affect the rest of your body or cross the blood-brain barrier. It is minimally invasive and quite effective. These problem zones usually treated are the abdomen, hips, knees, upper arms or upper legs (saddlebags), which are often impossible to shift even with a healthy diet and exercise. Facial issues can also be alleviated (deep ‘puppet’ smile lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth, eye bags, double chin, hamster cheeks) making lipolysis treatment an invaluable aesthetic option.
What Does Lipolysis Treatment Entail?
The lipolysis injection is ideally suited for tackling smaller fat deposits. PC/DC is injected into the area using a micro needle. Results are visible and fully achieved after a few treatments. For best results, these injections should be repeated approximately three times, at intervals of 6 weeks.
Are There Any Risks With Lipolysis Treatment I Should Be Aware Of?
The risks with injection-lipolysis are extremely low in comparison to surgical liposuction, and even bruising and swelling are far more common during surgical liposuction. Treatment costs are also much lower with lipolysis treatment. Dr. Nadel will review all of the possible risks associated with the procedure.
Does Lipolysis Also Help Reduce Cellulite?
Yes! Treatment with lipolysis injections has a firming effect on the skin, so mesotherapy is also suitable for combating cellulite.
